It's been a tough start to the week after a 15-5 record last week, but we still have plenty of time to salvage a profit. Let's get back on track with my three favorite K props for Wednesday night's MLB slate.
It's been a rough month of June for Luke Weaver. The Cincinnati Reds starter has given up 20 earned runs in four starts this month, and he hasn't made it past the fifth inning in any of them. As for the Baltimore Orioles, they're averaging just 7.8 strikeouts per game over the last two weeks, which is the sixth-best mark in MLB. Weaver has gone under this number in three straight starts, and I think he makes it four Wednesday.
This number doesn't make much sense to me. Dane Dunning simply isn't a swing-and-miss pitcher this season, as he's averaging only 5.1 strikeouts per nine innings. In 17 starts this year, Dunning has gone over 4.5 Ks just three times. The Detroit Tigers aren't a good hitting team, but there's still no reason this line should be higher than 3.5.
Blake Snell has been utterly dominant in June. In four starts this month, the San Diego Padres starter has racked up 43 strikeouts and just one earned run. I think he can keep the hot streak going against a Pittsburgh Pirates team that's recorded the seventh-most Ks against left-handed pitching this season.
