Titans WR DeAndre Hopkins re-enrolls in classes at Clemson

Clemson students, keep an eye out for a familiar face this semester. On Thursday, Justin Roberton, the associate editor of “The Tiger,” reported DeAndre Hopkins reenrolled at Clemson this fall.

According to Robertson, Hopkins is working toward a degree in parks, rec and tourism management. While Hopkins is taking online classes, perhaps a few students will be lucky enough to spot him on test day. Then again, Hopkins will face enough tests on the field this season.

After spending three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, Hopkins signed a two-year deal with the Tennessee Titans this offseason. The deal is reportedly worth $26 million, including the opportunity for Hopkins to earn an extra $6 million through incentives.

Obviously, the Titans still have faith in the veteran receiver. Hopkins struggled the past two seasons, largely due to injuries. The former Clemson standout suffered a torn MCL in 2021 and a Grade 1 knee strain last season, as well.

Tennessee Titans hopeful for DeAndre Hopkins

Despite his recent struggles, the five-time Pro Bowler has impressed in training camp. Before the season, Titans QB Ryan Tannehill praised Hopkins.

“He’s been a big addition,” Tannehill said, via NFL.com. “We’ve seen some huge plays from him. Vintage Hopkins that you’ve seen across his career of tight, contested catches when he’s able to elevate or make the extended catch. So, as a quarterback, it’s been a lot of fun to find those areas where I can put the ball where only he can get it and then he’s making the play.

“I am very happy, very glad,” Hopkins said after signing. “This was a team that as soon as the offseason hit and I knew I was possibly going to be traded, this was a team that was on my list of places that I wanted to play because of the history [head coach] Mike Vrabel and I have, the history Tim Kelly and I have.”

Hopkins was a major contributor in his Titans debut, hauling in seven receptions for 65 yards. However, the three-time All-Pro seemingly suffered an ankle injury in the final minutes of the game, hobbling to the sideline. Hopkins reportedly did not practice with the team on Wednesday.

If there’s one positive from the injury, Hopkins should have plenty of time to catch up in the classroom. Nonetheless, the Titans will want Hopkins back sooner rather than later. On Sunday, Tennessee will look to bounce back from its Week 1 loss. The Titans and Chargers will square off at 1 p.m. ET.
